Hannah Clayton was recognized last night before the volleyball match as the new career blocking leader at Tri-Valley.  Maddie “Maddog” Merritt the former record holder was back to help Hannah celebrate.  Maddie is a junior at Illinois Wesleyan University, where is majoring in Business while continuing her basketball career.  Maddie is one of a handful of girls to score 2000 points and grab 1000 rebounds in high school basketball, and she was also our career blocking leader for volleyball until earlier this week.

Current Tri-Valley Elementary teacher Jeannette Newberry Clayton was also part of the ceremony.  Jeannette graduated from Tri-Valley in 1989 with several blocking records and honors.  Jeanette continued her career at Illinois State University where she was an all conference player, Missouri Valley Conference Tournament MVP, and record holder in several blocking categories. Jeannette also coached volleyball at Tri-Valley High School with current coach Jamie Ward until she started her family.

Mrs. Clayton's baby girl Hannah surpassed her mother’s blocking records, but last night also surpassed those of Maddie Merritt.  Hannah currently has 259 career blocks.  Congratulations Hannah on this amazing accomplishment and good luck as you continue to set the bar even higher for future Lady Vikings!
